Brightgreen Lighting are doing their part to bring an end to the energy-sucking standard light bulb.
August 19th, 2008
Last year the Howard Government announced its intention to rid Australia of standard light bulbs by 2009. Brightgreen are a lighting company intent on making this a reality.
Apart from offering a number of environmentally conscious lighting alternatives, namely LEDs, Brightgreen are also running a competition to find the world’s greatest eco light.
The ‘Switched On’ competition is challenging designers to create a “new fixed or free downlight, bulb, lamp, task light or something completely new using the freedoms of high end LED’s to combat climate change and planned obsolescence.”
Brightgreen have also released the new D Series downlights. Using less power with a greater lumen output, they are touted as the most energy-efficient downlights on the market.
“It’s mercury, UV, fire risk and flicker free, fully recyclable and can be dismantled – fluorescent lights just don’t compare,” says designer and Brightgreen CEO, David O’Driscoll.
